O Quy Ho Pass: Private Tours to Heaven Gate and Tram Ton Pass
Two thousand metres up, on your own clock.
Your own licensed local guide, fluent in English. Your own car, on a route built around you. Every ticket covered — from $38 per person.
What is O Quy Ho Pass?
O Quy Ho Pass, also called Tram Ton Pass, is the road over the Hoang Lien Son range on National Highway 4D, about 15 km from Sapa and about 2,000 m at the top. A day here is built around Heaven Gate, the waterfalls and the glass bridge. With a local guide you get more than the photo: why one side of the summit sits in cloud, and which stop is worth your time that day.
On our tours the entrance tickets and the car are already included.
Shared group tour vs. private tour
Shared group tours suit travellers who are happy to follow a big group on a fixed plan. Here is what actually changes when the day is yours.
Shared group tour
- One driver-guide shared across a small group
- Fixed route and timetable — no changes on the day
- Set four-hour slots, whatever the cloud is doing
- Entrance tickets and fees often paid on the spot
- Back to town when the slot ends, and tickets like Heaven Gate can be extra
Fixed plan · extras paid on the day
Your private day with us
- Just your group of 1–4, with a licensed local guide fluent in English
- Your route and pace — any itinerary can be changed on request
- We can change the order, and the hour where the guide and driver allow, as the cloud changes
- Every ticket and every fee pre-paid
- Picked up and returned to your hotel — no shop stops, in writing

Questions about the pass and the tours
Is Tram Ton Pass the same as O Quy Ho Pass?
Yes, in practice. Both names are used for the road over the Hoang Lien Son on National Highway 4D, and you will also see Hoang Lien Pass and Heaven’s Gate on maps. It tops out at about 2,000 m on the border of Lao Cai and Lai Chau, about 15 km from Sapa, and both our tours cross it.
Do we need to buy a Heaven Gate Sapa ticket?
No, it is in the price of both tours. Heaven Gate Sapa is a ticketed park at the top of the pass, and your main-zone ticket covers the stone gate and O Quy Ho Pagoda. Fairy Valley next door is a separate ticket, so tell us if you want it added and we will quote it first.
What exactly is included in the price?
Private car with driver, a licensed local guide who speaks fluent English, hotel pickup and drop-off anywhere in Sapa, all entrance fees on the route, and lunch on the full-day tour. Not included: lunch on the half day, the rides at the glass bridge, Fairy Valley and travel insurance, plus personal shopping and optional tips.
Can I cancel or reschedule?
Yes — free cancellation up to 3 days before departure for a full refund, and free rescheduling subject to availability. Within 3 days of departure, 30% of the tour price is charged because the car and guide are already committed.
Can the tour be tailored for children, older parents or our own interests?
Yes — every itinerary can be adjusted. Tell us who is travelling and what you enjoy, and we will change the stops and the pace to suit. The long walk is the stone path to Love Waterfall, on the full day only, and it is easy to leave out; the half day is mostly short walks and some steps.
How do I pay, and when?
Two ways: pay the full price online by card, or pay a 30% deposit online and the rest in cash on the day of the tour, in US dollars or Vietnamese dong. We can also send a secure payment link on WhatsApp. The booking is confirmed once the online payment goes through, and your pickup time and guide’s name arrive in writing.
How far ahead should I book?
A few days is comfortable in the busy months from September to May; at quieter times next-day requests often work. Message us and we will tell you honestly what is still open.
